Hello CMHA Hockey Families,

This is a friendly reminder that registration opens Thursday June 1, 2023 for the 2022-2023 hockey season. Register by July 15, 2023 to avoid a fee increase of $200.

Evaluations – What to expect…
Evaluations start Tuesday September 5, 2023 (always after the Labour Day Long weekend).
- For the U7 evaluations, there are two (2) conditioning skates and two (2) evaluation games.
- CMHA provides divisions U9- U18 with two (2) conditioning skates, one (1) timed evaluation and three (3) evaluation games. 

CMHA does not host summer or evaluation prep camps during the summer months.
Please note that CMHA offers two streams of Hockey for U9 to U18: CAHL Central Alberta Hockey League and RHL Rockies Hockey League. U5 and U7 remain local in Chestermere.
- U5 has 1 hour practice on the weekend.
- U7 has 2 half ice hour practices on Saturday and Sunday.


CAHL hockey – what to expect next season…
CAHL travels throughout Central and Southern Alberta for both tiering and regular season:
-           As far North as Didsbury
-           As far West as Canmore
-           As far East as Oyen, and
-           As far South as Coldale
The CAHL season starts on October 6, 2023. Tiering runs from October 13 to November 5, 2023. There is a tiering break from November 10-12, 2023 at which time your team will be placed in the division and tier they will play in all season.
Regular season starts November 17 to February 18, 2024.
Christmas break is December 18, 2023 to January 4, 2024.
Play Off season is February 16, 2024 to March 24, 2024.

U9 Division – 2 half ice hour practices during the week, 1 home game and 1 away game per weekend (games are half ice).
U11 Division - New this season - rotating 2 week schedule:
- week 1: 2 half hour ice practices
- week 2: 1 full ice hour practice + 1 hour dryland training upstairs.
1 home and 1 away game per weekend - Games are full ice.
U13 Division - New this season - rotating  2 week schedule:
- week 1:  2 half ice hour practices
- week 2:  1 full ice hour practice + 1 hour dryland training upstairs
1 home and 1 away game per weekend.
U15 Division - rotating schedule
- week 1:  1 full ice hour practice
- week 2:  2 full ice hour practices
1 home and 1 away game per weekend.
U18 Division - rotating schedule
- week 1: 1 full ice hour practice
- week 2: 2 full ice hour practices
1 home and away game per weekend.

FUNDING ASSISTANCE
As a reminder for anyone that is needing assistance with fee payment, there are 3 types of outside funding sources that you can access. Applications MUST be filled out by parents not CMHA.

KidSport Alberta Grant
KidSport™ Canada (smartsimple.ca)
KidSport Alberta Provincial Fund provides grants of up to $250 per eligible kid, per year (January 1st - December 31st) towards sport registration fees. You can submit a paper application by mail, fax or e-mail:

JumpStart
- SmartSimple | Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities
Children must fall between the ages of 4 - 18 years old.

Funding is up to $300 per activity, subject to Chapter discretion and/or local demands. Children can be funded for successive seasons in an activity, up to a maximum of $300 per activity.

The annual maximum amount a child is eligible to receive is up to $600, subject to Chapter discretion and/or local demands.

All approvals will be determined by the local Jumpstart Chapter and designated Canadian Tire Jumpstart Regional Manager, and are subject to local demands and Chapter budgets.

Hockey Canada Foundation
- Apply | Hockey Canada Assist Fund (hockeycanadafoundation.ca)
The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association.

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is open to applicants (as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency) who currently meet the LICO (low income cut-off) as established by Stats Canada.

Registration Fee Qualification: Applicants must be registering a child with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned local hockey association (HA) for the 2022-23 season.

When you apply, you will also need to supply proof of Minor Hockey Association Registration or official quote from Minor Hockey Association you plan to register your kids. You will also need to disclose if you’ve applied for other funding.

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund will be open to receive applications between  August 1st, 2022 until December 3, 2022.
