Managers

COACHES/MANAGERS
Rosters/Team info – The Registrar has sent out the forms for the rosters (including jersey #’s) and coach’s info.  These need to be returned COMPLETE and in the format requested.

Communication lines are to be followed at ALL times this means on your teams, within the association and most importantly to the league and Hockey Alberta!  Parent/Player to Coach/Manager first, then to Level Coordinator, to appropriate Director to President. If it is a league issue, contact the League Director. COMMUNICATE THIS TO YOUR TEAM AT ALL TIMES.  CAHL will be fining associations who have parents or coaches directly contacting CAHL board members.

League rulesPlease make sure you have read and understood the league rules as they pertain to game play, affiliation, points etc.  If you are unclear do not hesitate to contact your Level Coordinators or the League Director.  If they don’t have the answer they will get you the CORRECT answer.

*New CAHL Code of Conduct and Complaints Process – CAHL has implemented a new code of conduct as well as a complaints process and form.  All of these complaints must be filed through your League Director on the teams behalf.  Please read and be familiar with this new process.  CAHL will be fining association who’s members do not follow these rules.

*New Hockey Alberta Suspension guidelines -  Hockey Alberta has substantially expanded it’s Minimum suspension guidelines.  These are available on the Hockey Alberta website.  Every coach and manager must go to the site and read through these.  There are new cumulative suspensions for both players and coaches. The Coach of any Team that receives a combination of three (3) Major (including Fighting) or Match penalties in the same game – 1 game suspension for Head CoachPlease be aware that the head coach will receive this suspension whether or not he was present at the game where these penalties took place.

When in doubt sit them out!CAHL and Hockey Alberta have put new systems in place for the processing of suspensions.  This should ensure that you are given accurate and timely response when it comes to suspensions.  Please make sure you email the game sheets and write ups ASAP to your governors (cc League Director) for league games or directly to the League Director for Exhibition or tournament games.

Please do your best this season to remember these are kids (even the ones that are bigger than some of us), this is a game, their game and you are a role model for their life!!!

MANAGERS

ARENAS – please respect all arenas and DO NOT let your players run wild!
Damage – CMHA teams are expected to behave appropriately while at any arena, and to leave dressing rooms tidy.  Any damage caused to dressing rooms, arenas, or arena facilities are the responsibility of the team.  Should a facility contact CMHA (including our own arena) that a dressing room has been damaged, CMHA will pass the invoice for cleaning and/or repair directly to the coach for payment.
There should be NO photographs taken in dressing rooms. NO electronic items should be allowed in dressing rooms.

Team list“a final” team list with jersey #’s is to be e-mailed to the Registrar. ABSOLUTELY NO changes are to be made to this list after it is sent to the Registrar unless you have approval from the Registrar!!

Data Entry person – Novice to Midget - home team of every game is responsible for entering in the game results from the official game sheet, no later than midnight Monday following weekends games. An online team data entry handbook is available for using the scoring application.

Game changes – need to be approved by your tier governor and a form filled out and signed by both teams first and then sent to the level governor. Game changes can be confirmed by email.

League Governor for your tier – look on CAHL website for contact information on who your tier governor is.

League play – new CAHL website is self-explanatory – no more “portal access”.  6 players is all you need to play a game.

Tiering Round – (are games played during the month of October to see where your team is competitive) Crossover games can be played at any time during tiering round. Schedules are not set in stone till after re-tiering weekend.

RESPECT in SPORT – PARENT – all families must have this course. Found on Hockey Alberta’s website under “Members” and paid for by family. No code needed.

RESPECT in SPORT – LEADER – ALL coaching staff (coach, trainer, assistant coach, goalie coach, manager) must have this course COMPLETED by November 1st. Also found on Hockey Alberta’s website under “Members”

COACHES – Only the coaches who have been identified to the Registrar that have been carded to your team are allowed on your bench for games. Coaches that are carded on other CMHA teams may attend your practices ONLY, but NOT on your bench unless they are listed and carded to your team.  If you have a day where you are short coaches, you cannot just grab a willing parent and throw them on the bench. A suspension will be given by the league to all the coaching staff and matched by CMHA.

Affiliations –Only players who are officially on your Hockey Canada roster as an affiliate may play with your team to a maximum of 10 games. Teams cannot, at any time, just pick up a player, brother, sister etc. and add them for a game of any kind, league, exhibition or tournament. A player is only affiliated to one team. Teams will be provided a copy of their HCR rosters once they are approved by HA. Each teams’ affiliates will be listed on that roster as “Approved A” so coaches will be aware of who they can request to the other coach to use if they are in need of affiliates and meet the requirements.  CAHL would like us to only list in Goalline up to 5 affiliates that are most likely to be used.  If a team wishes to use an affiliate, 2-3 days’ notice is needed to have that player added so your team (or opponent) can score the game on time.  Teams who need from an age group to differing age group affiliate are all aware that they need permission each and every time to affiliate via an email to league@chestermereminorhockey.com and the CAHL VP. (e.g. Bantam1 to Midget3)
Novice can only affiliate if their numbers are below 12 but can only affiliate to 12 players.
Atom to Midget can only affiliate if their numbers are below 15 but can only affiliate to 15 players.
